How it works + What we do
African dance is authentic. Everyone is welcome in traditional, African dance.
This is definitely ‘out of the box’. Starting with a good-humoured, confidence-building warm-up, we move on to easy movements that energise and challenge the group. All ages (and past injuries) are accommodated, as the group learn a number of linked steps to the beat of our live drumming. The final performance is an expression of whole-body participation.
Or combine with African Drumming. Split the group - half drumming and half dancing. The dancers give colourful and energetic expression to their colleagues' music. Then we swap roles...

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did feel self-conscious at first but actually it was just the right thing. It was quite hard core in a way. It separated the men from the boys.
